Mentoring Corner: Q&A with Stephanie Barros, Certified High Performance Coach, Facilitator & Speaker

How long have you been a mentor?
I have been mentoring since 2005 and with FitT since 2013.

Who was your first mentor?
A Human Resources Manager in 2003.

Why do you see mentoring as such an important part of life?
Success leaves clues, and whilst I believe in each of us owning our unique path to success, by learning from others and their experience, we are better equipped to quickly uncover what works best for ourselves.

Why do you mentor?
Mentoring is my way of giving back to others. I have had so many people who have helped me on my path, I want to do the same for others. Mentoring is also another way for us to learn, which helps to speed up our learning journey.

What are your tips on being a great mentor?
1. Listen actively
2. Relay stories vs dispense advice
3. Walk the talk and challenge others to be better (the best they can be!)
